Vera Cherny brings a filmmaker’s eye and a producer’s discipline to her work behind the scenes.
Vera is the multilingual problem-solver and clarity-creator that lets the Rational Unicorn team play to their strengths. She carefully tends to the human dynamics in the room and the strategic details that push meaningful work forward. This role draws on her own strengths: seeing the full picture, anticipating what comes next, and keeping many competing priorities in harmony. Vera believes that with a bit of heart and plenty of magic, even the biggest challenges can be solved.
Vera holds a double BA in English and Journalism. Vera went on to earn an MFA from New School University in New York City. She then spent two decades in Los Angeles working as a writer, actor, filmmaker, and producer. That creative development sharpened every aspect of her work. She learned what it takes to tell a compelling story and the importance of clear communication. She also learned how to manage all the moving parts required to guide a vision to its full potential.
Born in the former Soviet Union and raised in East Germany, Vera came to the United States alone at 16 on a scholarship, with nothing but a suitcase and an abundance of curiosity. The Freedom Support Scholarship, backed by former senator Bill Bradley, placed Vera in California. Creating a life for herself in a new country shaped the way she moves through the world. It taught her to adapt quickly and keep going when the path ahead is not obvious. That’s what makes her so skilled at finding possibility in the middle of complexity.
