Lindy Laurence brings an uncommon level of business fluency to her law practice.

Lindy puts her expertise behind small businesses and nonprofits, with a special commitment to underserved communities and those run by women. Lindy partners with her clients to help them make smart legal decisions and build joyful lives on their terms.

Lindy earned her JD from the University of Washington School of Law, concentrating in business law and entrepreneurship. She spent three years in the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, advising entrepreneurs and nonprofits on corporate and tax matters. She returned to UW for an LLM in Taxation, graduating at the top of her class and receiving the Meade Emory Endowed Prize for outstanding graduate scholarship in taxation.

She didn’t follow the typical road to becoming an attorney, and that’s part of her strength. Lindy began her career as operations manager at a startup, where she helped guide the company through early growth to successful acquisition. She later served as chief of staff at a Fortune 200 company. This real-world foundation shaped her understanding of the realities her clients actually face. Great outcomes depend on foresight, creative problem-solving, and treating people well along the way.

Lindy carried that same philosophy to Volunteer Legal Services in Pierce County, where she helped expand access to pro bono legal support for low-income communities. As Assistant Director of Legal Programs, she led the development of legal clinics and client services that annually reached 10,000 people. Lindy also oversaw prison and reentry initiatives, including programs that served over 400 incarcerated women. This role led to her appointment to the Washington Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Board. That experience cemented her belief that legal services can and should be a force for economic equity and social justice in underserved communities.

Today, Lindy balances being a mom with leading Rational Unicorn as owner and managing attorney. She approaches each day with a clear purpose: to be the kind of lawyer she wished she’d had in the past.
