Ricky Lam protects innovations by day and crafts his own by night.
Ricky is a registered patent agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), with hundreds of successfully prosecuted domestic and international patent applications. His work touches all corners of technology, ranging from semiconductor manufacturing and satellite communications to 3D printing, robotics, and waste soil remediation. He’s passionate about technologies that make the world a better, more sustainable place to be. The company behind one of the patent portfolios he built and managed earned multiple awards, including a $1 million investment from DARPA.
Ricky began his career at a Silicon Valley law firm before taking on a management role at another patent prosecution firm. He helped grow that practice from a single agent to a five-person team of registered practitioners in under a year. He later launched his own practice, where he serves individual inventors, large public companies, and all the visionaries in between.
Ricky grew up in San Francisco and spent his childhood tinkering with inventions of his own. He holds a BS in Biology from University of California, Los Angeles. While in school, Ricky ventured beyond his major to study other interests like mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering, finance, computer science, and astronomy. That restless curiosity never left him. He brings that same hunger and meticulousness to every patent application he manages.
Though his pursuits keep him quite busy, Ricky never fails to enjoy quality time with his wife, their son, and their dogs.
